Getting back to our regular event schedule, we're hosting the brilliant women from Danusha in the shop on Tuesday 15th November to talk about women's empowerment in rural communities.
Danusha is BAFTS registered, social enterprise working in partnership with Nepal Leprosy Trust. It began in 2009 and was established as a business in 2012 by Sue Lavender, Allison Davies and Katy Barr.
They source gorgeous contemporary, beaded jewellery inspired by the colours and traditions of Nepal. All of the raw materials are sourced locally and they provide employment for people in rural Nepal. Their earrings, necklaces, and bracelets are sold across several outlets in the UK, including One World Shop.
Come to this free event at the shop at 25 Nicolson Square from 6:30pm to hear about their work with Nepal Leprosy Trust and the women who make the jewellery.
Rachel will also be talking about her visit to Nepal in 2013, where she also visited Nepal Leprosy Trust to source our leather and fabric bags, wallets and purses.
We will have food from Punjabi Junction, a delicious little social enterprise community cafe run by women from Sikh Sanjog.
