This hand blockprinted cotton duvet set features an intricate floral design in teal and 2 shades of brown with a ring of elephants parading around the central motif. The duvet cover closes with buttons and it comes with two matching pillowcases.
The duvet cover comes via Aravali, a fairtrade organisation in India which promotes the work of various skilled artisans in the Rajasthan area. The blockprinted fabric comes from two small businesses run by artisans in Bagru, Rajasthan such as Ganesh. Ganesh is a colour master and head of the workshop, which he owns. He gets to work early in the morning (around 7.00am) and first prepares the dyes and colours which are needed for the day. The other workers arrive between 8.30am and 9.00am. After explaining the day's work plan to them, he goes to his plot of land to work the fabric. He owns a scooter and hopes to own a jeep sometime. He wants his children to finish high school and says that his son can decide for himself whether he would like to become a printer or not.
