A beautifully worked fair trade beaded and silver alloy corded necklace with a silver alloy and warm orange agate pendant, which is hinged so it will lie flat whatever you are wearing. From a Tuareg village in Niger, this tribal jewellery uses traditional designs invoking good fortune, betrothal and protection through symbols representing the everyday - including tents, ant tracks, desert winds and food bowls.
Selling this unique jewellery has enabled the village co-operative to build a new well – access to safe drinking water has dramatically reduced the cases of typhoid in the village and, in addition, has led to better livelihoods through the farming of out-of-season crops.
The silver alloy is a copper-silver alloy, with the silver content being between 55 and 75 per cent.
Details will vary slightly owing to the handmade nature of this jewellery.
